how to... make exciting cards (various)

3 Faces.

Fold and score one A4 Card any colour in Cream.

  • Cut out Watercolour paper with a punch or ruler and knife. 3 x 2" x 2" inch squares.
  • Stamp on them the image you want. In this case it was 3 women's faces.
  • I coloured them in with Watercolour.
  • I then mounted them on flowery backing paper and then onto gold.
  • Stick down with double sided sticky tape each layer.
  • Mount on to your card very carefully down the middle leaving space for your ' Happy Birthday.
  • Print out insert with your own words and then ' Voila' a really lovely card to send to anyone.

Cat

This is a cute little card to send and one I am sure would be much appreciated.
Happy Birthday or whatever greeting you would like to say.
You will need a 5" x 5" card.

  • On the front side....colour over with lemon and blue chalks on a tissue blend in to look natural. In the background I have stamped a small cat's face in orange ink.
  • The Cat for the front is in fact material....and will be mounted on cardboard..... glue the cardboard with book binding glue...skim off excess...then apply to the back of the cat image....making sure it is squared up.... the Cat image of course will be on the front.
  • Glue around the sides of the back of the cardboard and with the flap that is left over from the cutting fold down and stick carefully. cut the corners off and with the glue put a dab on the corners and fold down firmly.
  • Then you will need to mount that on the colour of your choice card. I used a Tan colour here.
  • Add your greeting and your personal insert for a really cute card.

  • Colour the back ground again with chalks...stamp in the background the chick but with orange ink.
  • Your back ground is ready.
  • Stamp out a Chick on a 2" x2" Water colour paper that has been cut or punched out. Use an embossing ink pad and then dust with gold embossing powder and then heat.
  • Paint with watercolours.
  • Mount on first Orange and then Yellow backing card. Cutting about 1/4" inch larger than the one in front of it.
  • Stick on to you card with Double sided tape.
  • A really pretty card and delight to receive.

  • I have made this in Plain white hammered card.
  • I have a beautiful Stamp of a Hedgehog which I have stamped on Water colour paper.
  • And then painted with Water colour paints.
  • It is mounted onto two coloured backing cards Coral and Silver. Around the front I have stuck silver hearts peel offs.
  • A small cut out has been added on the bottom with ' Just for you'. again on added backing card.
  • Insert has been added with personalised verse and away you go.
  • A super card that I had great pleasure in making.

Niamh's Card

Superb little card here, that I made for one of my Granddaughters...Niamh...

  • This is a 5" x 5" card.
  • With blue sparkly card in the background and then flowery paper on the top followed by red Glittery card as a background to the little girl that has been cut out using a Sizzix machine this also includes hair and dress. I don't know what I would do without my Sizzix.
  • A greeting of ' Happy Birthday etc ' has been added to a cut out card with also gift boxes from a Sizzix die.
  • Down the sides of the card peel offs of Blue Sparkly Stars.
  • Inside the usual insert has been added with my own verse. ( I like to write poetry ) it comes in very handy for greetings cards.
  • And it makes a card so personal I really do love making cards.

A Shrink Rose

Another method of making a really lovely little card and this is to use shrink plastic.

  • The card is 5" x 5" and the background has been coloured in with chalks I really like this method.
  • On top I have stamped with pink ink, flower outlines and also little green buds.
  • On clear shrink I have rubbed it slightly with a nail buffer to make the stamp and colours adhere....the stamp I have used is a bouquet of Roses I have stamped with a Stazon ink pad and then have coloured them in using...ink pens...wait for them to dry for a while and then cut them out carefully .
  • Using your heat gun .....this is the fun part... heat the bouquet it will shrink to a 7th of the size of the original stamp, when almost done flip over and heat the back and then hold down briefly with the back of the stamp.
  • Let it cool.
  • Mount on two different backing cards here I have used..coral red and silver and around the frame of Coral I have stuck peel offs in silver.
  • There is no greeting on this card....but of course you can add what you desire.
  • Make your insert and then you are finished. Beautiful!!
